Sonnet Tempo PCI adapter, Quicksilver 2002, Western Digital Hard Drive

By C. Hughes
I have a G4 Quicksilver 2001 ( OS X 10.4.1 ) that came with a 80GB hard drive Western Digital. I make movies , so I need a lot of space. I bought a GB Serial ATA Internal Hard Drive Seagate 300 and this card ( Sonnet Tempo PCI adapter card 2 serial ATA ) was necessary for my Mac to read 300GB .

Do you need this card ?

First, check this site:

If your computer is a Quicksilver 2002 or later , then your computer is equipped with 48-bit addressing and you do not need this card. Your computer can read hard drives larger than 137GB .

If your computer is a Quicksilver 2001 ( like mine ) or more, then you do not need this card to your computer to use hard drives larger than 137GB .

REMEMBER! If your computer was built with a Western Digital Hard Drive initially , and you want to add a second hard drive , you must enable the Western Digital hard drive to master and the other hard drive to slave. More information here:
